Homemade Laundry Soap

1 Box of Super Washing Soda 3 lb. 7 oz.
1 Box of 20 Mule-Team Borax 4 lbs 12 oz.
1 Box of Pure Baking Soda 4 lb.
3 bars of Fels-Naptha 5.5 oz. or you could also use Ivory soap
1 container of Oxy-Clean 1.3 lb or use 3 lb size

*optional: Purex Crystals 28 oz. for scent (or you could use Downy Unstoppables

  • The first step I did is to grate your Fels-Naptha Bar. You can use a cheese grater to do this, but I used my food processor as it was a lot quicker. (I cut the soap bars in small cubes first then, threw them in the processor)
  • Then I grabbed a over-sized stock pot (you can use a bucket, or whatever you have that is deep enough to put a trash bag in and mix in) lined with a trash bag, put                      ALL THE ABOVE ingredients in and mixed my life away with a very long kitchen spoon.

Only 1-2 tablespoons per load.

*NOTE* It does not sud like store bought detergent, but it gets the clothes just as clean if not cleaner.
